Laia Sanz, last addition to RX2e’s upcoming season

  • The Spanish driver will race in the first round.
  • Sanz will face a challenge battling against more experienced drivers in RX2e.
  • Entry list for the first race of the season has been confirmed.

June 12th 2023, Barcelona – Laia Sanz will come back to RX2e for, at least, the first race of the season in Hell, Norway. The Spanish driver has already participated in a few races in the inaugural season in 2021 and last year. She will be racing with Acciona Team. “I think this Championship helped me a lot last season, especially in wheel-to-wheel racing, which is something that we have quite a bit in Extreme E races. I had no experience with this kind of races, and racing in RX2e helped me a lot to boost my confidence in these conditions, so that’s why I decided to re-join RX2e Championship”, explains Laia.

In this new chapter in RX2e, Sanz will try to get more experience in 4-wheel racing and to broaden her skills fighting with other cars and side-by-side. “I’ll be in RX2e to keep improving and growing as a driver, since I don’t have a lot of experience yet, and every chance that I get to do as many kilometres as possible is good and I can take advantage of it and learn fast”, she adds.

Laia Sanz started competing in motorsport from a young age, at just 4 years old, when she took her brother’s bike without anyone noticing and realising what she really liked. She started competing in Trial, where she achieved 14 World Championships. She also raced in Enduro, becoming a 6-time World Championship in this discipline.

In 2011 she made her Dakar debut, and has, since then finished in every occasion, achieving, in 2015, an impressive 9th place overall in motorbikes, best ever result for a woman in motorbikes class. In 2022 she started racing the Dakar in cars class.

Sanz races in Extreme E since its inaugural season in 2021 with Acciona|Sainz XE Team. In her debut season she finished 5th in the overall standings along Carlos Sainz, and last year improved her results finishing in third overall. This season, alongside Mattias Ekström, she achieved her first victory in this class in the inaugural round, the Desert X Prix in Saudi Arabia, and, with two rounds done, is currently placing second in the overall standings.

The new RX2e season is just a few days away, and we have the full entry list of drivers that will participate in the first round of this exciting Championship. For this first race, we will have ten drivers fighting to start the season on the right foot by winning the first round in Lånkebanen circuit in Hell, Norway.
